To ensure you get the best price available, it is best to plan and book your flights well in advance of the dates you may wish to travel.  If you leave it too late to book your flights to Venice you may strugle to find availability or the price will not be what you expected.  It is common practice for airlines to increase the cost of flights as the aircraft fills and the date of depature draws nearer.
